Coalition Member Organizations

With more than 410 organizational members, CivxNow is the nation’s largest cross-partisan coalition working to prioritize civic education in the United States.

Recognizing that preparing our youth to assume the responsibilities and understand their rights as active participants in the civic life of this great nation is essential to the health of our democratic republic, CivxNow pledges to advance civic education policy to ensure that every young person acquires the civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for informed civic participation.

Coalition members contribute to this effort through engagement in the state policy task force and/or affinity groups—policy; awareness-building; and research and best practices.*

This month, the Jack Miller Center hosted it’s 4th annual National Summit on Civic Education in Philadelphia. Set against the backdrop of America’s 250th, the summit theme was, “Words that Changed the World: America at 250.” A true exercise in pluralism and reflective patriotism, 500 civic leaders, practitioners, and philanthropists explored the importance of texts to American political tradition and reflected on the legacy and present-day applications of the Declaration of Independence.

The Jack Miller Center (JMC) advances civic learning by anchoring student education in America’s founding principles and history. JMC provides professional development, research and publishing workshops, and innovative learning tools to its robust network of scholars and K–12 teachers in order to support teaching texts and ideas rooted in the American political tradition.
