Coalition Members
With more than 410 organizational members, CivxNow is the nation’s largest cross-partisan coalition working to prioritize civic education in the United States.
Recognizing that preparing our youth to assume the responsibilities and understand their rights as active participants in the civic life of this great nation is essential to the health of our democratic republic, CivxNow pledges to advance civic education policy to ensure that every young person acquires the civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for informed civic participation.
Coalition members contribute to this effort through engagement in the state policy task force and/or affinity groups—policy; awareness-building; and research and best practices.*

The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) elevates state board members’ voices in national and state policymaking, facilitates the exchange of informed ideas, and supports members in advancing equity and excellence in public education for students of all races, genders, and circumstances.
In addition to its work supporting adult state board members, NASBE does meaningful work to support and advance student voice and student governance. Each year NASBE hosts a “New Student Member Institute” for incoming student board members, presents an annual award to an outstanding student board member, and hosts student-led sessions at their aAnnual conference. In 2024, NASBE launched the High School Transformation State Network, which included a Student Advisory Council made up of current student board members who advised on the work of the network and urged states to rethink graduation requirements to better reflect relevant skills, boost engagement, and expand real-world learning. You can find student voice pieces published in their State Education Standard and policy updates like this one which highlights the current landscape of student voice and governance with state boards of education.
