Coalition Members
With more than 410 organizational members, CivxNow is the nation’s largest cross-partisan coalition working to prioritize civic education in the United States.
Recognizing that preparing our youth to assume the responsibilities and understand their rights as active participants in the civic life of this great nation is essential to the health of our democratic republic, CivxNow pledges to advance civic education policy to ensure that every young person acquires the civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for informed civic participation.
Coalition members contribute to this effort through engagement in the state policy task force and/or affinity groups—policy; awareness-building; and research and best practices.*

The Democratic Knowledge Project (DKP) is a civic education initiative led by Harvard faculty member Danielle Allen that aims to build a world where a supermajority of young people believe democracy is essential and feel confident they have the knowledge, capacities, and skills needed to participate in civic life. DKP pursues this goal through civic education research and through offering curriculum and professional learning aligned with the Roadmap to Educating for American Democracy.
DKP offers professional learning through the Civic Learning Institute at the Harvard Graduate School of Education that supports both the development of content knowledge (on topics like the Declaration of Independence) and pedagogical skills (such as navigating difficult conversations in K–12 classrooms).
